It’s a Saturday paper in summer, so it looks like they needed content. But when one travel writer dishes out poor advice, it looks bad for the whole travel section of the Globe. Know and understand your readership. Isn’t that the first thing they teach you in journalism school?

This is how NOT to write a travel article. The writer did not fact check; you and I know it’s a 4 hour drive from Lubec to Kittery and an additional 90 minutes to Portland. He’s makes it sound like these places are a hop, skip and a jump from one another. Leaves out beautiful Brunswick with its wonderful summer theater and brings the reader to Belfast??? He could have put in a couple of sentences on Rockland and Camden. I know these areas but the way he wrote about them I was totally lost, This is also bad fact checking on the Boston Globe’s part. Don’t they know that the BSO and Tanglewood are in Lenox not Stockbridge?? Thank you for bringing this. I’m passing your link on to my travel writers group. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Happy travels. Fran
